After months of beta testing, and receiving positive feedback from students and educators in schools around the world, we're thrilled to announce that Further, our learning management system for STEM, is now available to educators and pi-top users everywhere.

Further contains over 100 hours of interactive projects based on real-world activities. The hands-on comprehensive projects cover a wide range of skill sets. From coding a rocket launch animation that is executed by the push of a button, to making a musical instrument, students get to explore physical computing while gaining STEM-related hard skills, and in-demand soft skills like critical thinking and problem-solving that address the skills gap students face in today’s world.

Packed with features to help teachers.

Further’s challenges speak the language of teachers. The lessons took us through every step. We could scaffold on top of the work we did the day before. So we were able to move that cohort of students along.

In combination with pi-top products, Further brings STEM learning into the classroom, making it exciting and accessible for students, and simple and customizable for teachers. Further’s projects are highly customizable, making it simple to modify sections, change them to reference items available in your school, and filter them based on state standards.

Classes can be imported from Clever or Google Classroom. When they are, the students within the class are also imported which means you can get working and managing your classes with just a few clicks, helping you ensure your students stay engaged and learning stays on track wherever they are.

Further can be accessed from any computer such as Chromebook, Mac, PC or a pi-top device. Our Code Runner boxes allow students to write code on their computers, send code to the pi-top [4] for execution, and interact with it in real-time.

Access a world of challenges.

You’ll find a wide range of hands-on projects in Further which ignite curiosity and easily integrate into your teaching. The projects follow our four-step learning model:

Assemble

Students follow step-by-step guides that help them learn the basics of coding, using the electronic components that come with pi‑top [4] or pi-top [3].

Tinker

Students get to explore and test to refine understanding generated in the ‘assemble’ section.

Play

Once they’re confident, students can play with their code and add components to come up with something unique. Learners develop and demonstrate skills by building, exploring, inventing, and problem-solving, offering new projects to assess.

Share

In all projects, students are encouraged to share or present their work and gain feedback.

A 1-month free trial is available for schools. Further’s licence comes with 10 hours of teacher training, facilitator guides, the ability to filter content based on state standards, and much more.
